Eco-TourismA Journey to Khnang Preah Ang in the Cardamom Mountains
Travel GuidesSome places impress me once. Others become part of my story. Iโve hiked Phnom Preah more than seven times, and somehow, each journey feels different. Itโs a place I keep returning to, not because it has changed, but because I have.
Stories & CultureSome journeys take us into the forest to discover its beauty, while others teach us why it is worth protecting. During my journey to Keo Seima Wildlife Sanctuary in Mondulkiri, I joined the O'Porong community patrol team, working alongside Bunong community members, park rangers, and WCS Cambodia to learn how they protect the forest and its wildlife. Walking with them gave me a deeper understanding of the challenges of conservation and the important role the forest plays in their ancestral land, culture, and future.
Stories & CultureI spent a day with the Bunong Indigenous community in Mondulkiriโs Keo Seima Wildlife Sanctuary, learning about their traditional resin collection and deep relationship with the forest. From travelling deep into the forest with Uncle Veng and his family to sharing a meal and listening to their stories around the campfire, the experience gave me a deeper understanding of how traditional livelihoods, culture, and forest conservation are connected.
